"Wins and "Good News" Stories - COVID-19

A word from our sponsors:

Fortinet, the global leader in cybersecurity technology, is proud to support our healthcare customers during the current COVID-19 epidemic.  A number of support teams have been working around the clock to provide a reference architecture configuration and deployment support to several large hospital systems.  As the metro New York area has been dubbed “the epicenter” of the Corona Virus, Fortinet is supporting a large hospital system in providing secure remote connectivity for “pop up” testing facilities around the New York metro area.  The fast deployed solution supports secure VPN tunnels back to hospital datacenter.  The team is proud and honored to play a role in supporting our front line doctors, nurses, and first responders in this fight against the Pandemic.

Capsa Healthcare manufactures mobile computing and medical cart solutions for a wide spectrum of healthcare providers worldwide. The increased demand for these solutions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been unprecedented in recent weeks. Our focus is to support all healthcare providers by quickly producing the products they need, while ensuring the safety of our coworkers and communities. Our manufacturing facilities have rapidly increased production of critical products including isolation, mobile computing and telehealth carts to meet the growing demand. We are grateful to all of the clinicians and healthcare providers who are working tirelessly to care for those fighting COVID-19 and we will continue to do everything we can to support them.

Comcast is helping Americans stay connected to the Internet in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Comcast is opening Xfinity WiFi networks for free nationally. Additionally, the company is offering free, unlimited data and promises to connect low-income families. "During this extraordinary time, it is vital that as many Americans as possible stay connected to the Internet – for education, work, and personal health reasons" - Dave Watson, Comcast Cable President and CEO.

The Georgia Chapter of HIMSS is Actively Seeking Volunteers

The GA HIMSS mission is to actively engage our members, sponsors, partners and legislators in improving health and health care in Georgia through healthcare information and management systems.

Our healthcare ecosystem involves providers, payors, vendors as well as legislators with the patient at the center. It is my hope that our volunteers are comprised of individuals that mirror this healthcare community. It is only through working collaboratively in this community that we can improve health and health care in Georgia through healthcare information and management systems.

I would like this year to be one of even more member involvement and collaboration.  Please apply to the Board, become an event chair/speaker, join a committee, or share your experience.  It is your opportunity to contribute your talents, learn from others, network, and advance professionally and personally.

This is your time to become an active part of a premier organization in Healthcare Information Technology. We are soliciting nominations for individuals who are interested in serving in the following capacities:
Board Member - The time commitment for a board member consists of, at a minimum, attending four board meetings and two events for the 2017-2018 year as well as leading an activity for the chapter (e.g. Chairing of a Committee or assisting a Chair, leading an educational session, etc.)
Committee Member – Committees include:  Advocacy, Membership, Programs, Sponsorship, Communications, Professional Development – and it’s a great path toward a board seat!
Subject Matter Expert - Speak at an event or sit on a panel.
Volunteer Staff -  for one or more events
